Getting started.

Install StockAlert, get your first low-stock alert, and understand exactly what the app can and cannot change in your store.

Install and first sync

Add StockAlert from the Shopify App Store and open it from your Shopify admin. On first open it syncs your catalog and starts a short setup wizard - the whole thing takes about 15 minutes.

The wizard walks you through picking a tracking mode, setting your default threshold and notification email, and choosing how often alerts arrive. When you finish the last step you land on the dashboard and monitoring is live.

What StockAlert does

StockAlert watches your Shopify inventory and tells you before items run out, instead of after. When a variant's available quantity drops to or below the threshold you set - or hits zero - it sends an alert to the channels you chose.

It sees stock changes in real time through Shopify webhooks, and a background check also runs every few hours so nothing slips through if a real-time update is ever missed.

What it will and will not change

StockAlert is read-only with one deliberate exception. It reads your products, stock levels, locations, and order history to work out what is low and how fast things sell, but it never edits your product details, prices, descriptions, or storefront.

The only thing it can change is an inventory quantity, and only when you click Restock inside the app yourself. Nothing about your store changes without that action.
