how to set up stockalert.
Setup runs as a short guided wizard the first time you open the app. The whole thing takes about 15 minutes. Here is what each step does.
Add StockAlert from the Shopify App Store and open it from your Shopify admin. On first open, StockAlert syncs your catalog and starts the setup wizard automatically.
Choose Classic Mode (one shop-wide low-stock threshold, on every plan) or Smart Mode (per-variant thresholds from sales velocity, on higher plans). You can change this later in Settings.
In Classic Mode you set a default low-stock threshold - the number a variant has to drop to before StockAlert alerts you. In Smart Mode you set a lead time (days between ordering from your supplier and receiving stock) and a safety-stock buffer (days of cushion). Either way, you enter the notification email address alerts should go to.
Pick instant alerts (fire the moment stock drops below threshold), a daily digest (one summary email a day of every low item), or a weekly summary. The daily digest works on every plan; instant and weekly are on paid plans. Finishing this step completes setup and drops you on the dashboard.
After setup, Settings lets you go beyond the storewide defaults: per-SKU threshold overrides, narrowing which products trigger alerts (specific products, collections, or conditions), adding a Slack channel, adding more email recipients, and importing thresholds in bulk by CSV.
If you are moving from Stocky, export your SKU and reorder-point list as CSV and import it on the bulk settings screen - StockAlert maps each SKU to its threshold automatically.
